Scheduling an Edit
Q: What genres will you accept?
All genres of fiction except erotica, as well as literary fiction, short stories, and non-fiction. Availability for short stories and non-fiction is limited; please inquire for details.
Q: Do you provide sample edits?
Yes, for new copy editing and line editing clients I am happy to provide a sample edit of 1,000 words free of charge upon request. Please note that I do not offer sample proofreads because no editorial changes are being made to the manuscript.
Q: My manuscript will be ready in a few weeks/months. Can I pre-book my editing now?
You may select a date for your editing to begin and pre-book with a 50% deposit. Otherwise, you can contact me when your manuscript is ready for editing and I will let you know when I can add you to my calendar.
The Editing Process
Q. What format should I send my manuscript in?
Please send all manuscripts in either .doc or .docx format.
Q. How long do edits take?
Copy editing and line editing jobs are typically returned within ten business days (Monday through Friday), and proofreading jobs within five. If your deadline is tighter, rush jobs are available on a limited basis. Please contact me for my current availability.
Q. What if I don't agree with some of your edits?
That's okay! There is a measure of subjectivity to editing, and as the author you have the ability to pick and choose whether or not you apply my suggestions to your finished manuscript.
Payment
Q. What type of payment do you accept?
Payment is quick and easy through Paypal, which accepts all major credit cards. You will receive an invoice requesting payment via email.
Q. How will I be billed?
A nonrefundable 50% deposit is required to reserve your space in the queue. The final invoice will be sent upon completion of the edits. Please note that your finished manuscript cannot be returned until full payment is received.
